  1. Q What is the expiration date on this "NOW Foods - Whey Protein Isolate Unflavored, 10 lbs"?
    A I don't see an actual expire date but there is a "best by" that is marked 06/2015.
  2. Q It says microfiltered, but is the whey filtered under low temperature?
    A Yes. Now is a very reputable maker of many products. I have bought from them for about.....15 years or so. This particular protein has no flavor, but that doesn't mean it tastes bad. It just tastes, well, bland. I just put two scoops with cold filtered water, shake it in my bottle and down it. If u want flavor, I just add some of my kids strawberry Quick. I like no carb protein and this is it. Very high quality and not all the fancy price and advertising.
  3. Q Are they particular storage requirements? Shelf life?
    A I keep it in my pantry. Dark and in the 60s F for temp. Have used it after opening for 3 1/2 months without any issues.Have been using the 10 pound bags for 2 1/2 years now without problems with any of them.
  4. Q the package looks like a large plastic bag? Are their 2 five pound containers inside the bag?
    A The 10 pound package is just a large bag with the protein powder in the bag, no other containers. I keep a smaller container from a previous purchase and refill it when I get the 10 pound bag.
  5. Q Is this gluten free?
    A Yes. This product is gluten free. It specifically mentions NOT containing gluten (in the bottom right of the included picture).
  6. Q I see that most recent reviews claim the product quality has changed. Has anyone gotten an answer why the taste, texture, mixing (foam) changed?
    A To keep up with the increase of demand on our Whey Protein Isolate Unflavored, we had sourced a second supplier. Due to this being a natural product, there have been some lots (including this one) that have a different organoleptic ingredient, as compared to our normal whey isolate product. These lots have been identified and will no longer be used in the production of our Whey Protein Isolate Unflavored. We have revamped the pre-shipment sensory evaluation process on our protein powders and should not have this problem going forward. We apologize for the inconsistency with this product and appreciate your patience as we resolve the issue.
  7. Q Does anyone have information about how the cows are treated to develop this product? Is it humane?
    A Whey is a by-product of cheese production. It's probably impossible to know unless you figure out from whom NOW Foods gets their raw material.

    A This product is manufactured in Bloomingdale, Illinois.

    A NOW does not add this warning, but some resellers add a warning for all products sold to California businesses or residents to assure compliance with that unique law in case manufacturers aren’t testing heavy metals; NOW does this testing.

    A I bought my 10 lb in Ebay and it say "made in the USA". I don't think this 10lb bag says that. It just printed the manufacture address. IS THE DAIRY PRODUCT MIX IN CHINA SHIP OVER AND REPACK HERE ?

    A When whisking with milk for instance, I did notice the foaming and a bit of clumping, but so far didn't see nor experience "unknown particles" up to this point.

    A Usually it is much cheaper than 2 5 lb jars. Currently, a 5-lb jar is $51, and the 10 lb bag is $71.
  19. Q whats the difference between concentrated and the isolate?
    A Isolate is processed more or broken down more to make it a little easier to digest. If you are like me and have a quirky stomach, then the isolate is better. If you are okay with it spending a little bit more time in the digestive zone then concentrated is better. It also depends a lot on what you are using it for as well.

    A Yes. 2 scoops a day equals 100% of esa of protein

    A It's actually a big ziplock bag... Hopefully that isn't a deal breaker because this protein is phenomenal.
